One hour for Earth Hour Earth Hour 2007 was a Sydney event initiated by WWF. More than 2 million people and some 2,100 businesses took part. During the one hour event, electricity consumption was reduced by about 10% which can be translated into taking 48,000 cars off the road for one hour. Earth Hour was created to take a stand against the greatest threat our Planet has ever faced. It started with a question: How can we inspire people to take action on climate change? It uses the simple action of turning off the lights for one hour to deliver a powerful message about the need for action on global warming. Earth Hour 2008 is now a global movement and USM is proud to participate in this event. On 29 March 2008 (Saturday) 9.00 pm~10.00 pm, USM students in all hostels will turn off their room lights and other electrical appliances for 1 hour – the Earth Hour. Just a little action can change the world.
